Over the summer the Pat Midgley Community Hub has provided an array of activities for the local community including a board games café, Pinders dance session, arts and crafts sessions with Ignite Imaginations, visual arts organisations and other local crafters including Lydia and Hayley.

These sessions were very popular with families, who got to design their own coasters, pencil cases and create clay models.

We're very grateful to our local partners, Manor & Castle Development Trust and MASKK to deliver the drop-in on Fridays and Wybourn Youth Hangout drop-ins - these truly make a difference during the long summer holidays.

Celebrating Inspirational Women

March 2024

A fantastic community event was held at the Pat Midgley Community Hub to mark International Women’s Day.

Centre co-ordinator Christina Grant had her hands full organising the buffet of cakes, sandwiches and snacks as well as a range of activities.

Our customer Lydia, who Great Places supported to set up her graphic design business, set up an arts and crafts station, where attendees could design and create small jewellery boxes for the perfect Mothers’ Day Gift. At another end of the room, another creative resident designed everyone’s henna. We worked in partnership with Manor Castle Development Trust, and their fitness instructor Kellyanne Sharman attended to offer free checks on weight and blood pressure for those who found this helpful.

The turnout was excellent, with some attendees coming from the other side of Sheffield, having seen the advertisement on social media. Many who came were our customers and other residents of Wybourn of all ages, many of them regularly attending weekly events at the centre. One customer who attended for the first time for the event commented that it’s ‘a lovely community centre to get involved in’.

Wybourn Campaign

Save Our UK Steel Campaign

Sunday 4 February 2024

The residents of Wybourn took part in Unite the Union’s campaign to Save UK steel.

Signs and posters were displayed across the Wybourn estate. This was a great way to raise the profile of Wybourn and for the Pat Midgely Community Hub.

The main reasons Unite campaigned in Wybourn was due to the scenic views of Sheffield and many steel workers during World War II lived around the Attercliffe, Wybourn, Manor & Arbourthorne area.

A party on Halloween night was well attended by mums, dads and children with some very scary costumes from witches and skeletons, to power rangers and Cruella Devil herself!

Plenty of party food and sweets were on offer as well as an exciting visit from the local entertainer, Barney Baloney, who delivered a fantastic magic show that was enjoyed by everyone.
